A greenhouse extension and screen system was delivered and installed for Kings Nurseries Ltd, a commercial nursery supplying high-quality plants for the retail market & direct to the public.

Looking to expand their growing capacity while maintaining a cost-effective approach, Kings Nurseries turned to Bridge Greenhouses to deliver the used glasshouse extension & screen system.

The Challenge

With their current greenhouse nursery not being able to meet the production demands, Kings Nurseries Ltd sought to invest in their growing operations.

With an existing greenhouse structure already performing well, the nursery was looking to build an extension that would seamlessly integrate with their current space.

In addition, the nursery required a growing environment capable of maintaining consistent temperatures, light levels and climate conditions to support the healthy cultivation of specialist plants throughout the year.

The Solution

To execute this, Bridge Greenhouses proposed an extension to their existing structure using repurposed greenhouse parts.

This approach increased the available growing space while providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution that maximised the value of Kings Nurseries existing greenhouse.

To provide better shading and climate control within the structure, Bridge Greenhouses also installed a horizontal pull wire screen system within the nursery.

Results

The completed glasshouse extension significantly increased Kings Nurseries production capacity, providing additional growing space and improved environmental control to support the cultivation of high-quality plants for the retail market.

Greenhouse Structure: Freestanding Venlo glasshouse consisting of a single zone glasshouse with 3 pane vents to both sides of the ridge, Zeus precast concrete panels and concrete dollies, aluminium gutters & 6 no. top hung sliding doors.

Screens: Horizontal pull wire thermal shade screen system, driven by Ridder Drive Systems motors and using Phormium energy saving screen cloths.
