Bridge Greenhouses deliver Vermako poly house for Palmbrokers’ scene-setting plants

Specialists in environmentally controlled greenhouses, Bridge Greenhouses, have completed a substantial installation project for Palmbrokers, a greenery and prop hire business for film, television and events.
Palmbrokers provides plants and greenery used on set by some of the most prestigious film and television productions including Game of Thrones, Bridgerton, Jurassic World Rebirth, Silo, Dune 1 and 2 and The Crown; and across events and venues including Wimbledon, Goodwood, Silverstone and BST Hyde Park.
To meet its rising demand, Palmbrokers required the installation of an environmentally controlled greenhouse, ideal for producing high-quality plants fit for the big screen.
“From commercial growing to scientific research, we’ve constructed many greenhouses– but a greenhouse fit for growing movie stars was a first! Meeting their specialised requirements, our team delivered a climate-controlled Vermako facility, fully equipped for year-round production” says David Summerfield, Director of Bridge Greenhouses.
The new facility was built using Vermako’s modular, adjustable and ventilated poly house design.
To ensure ideal growing conditions and enhanced climate-control, the greenhouse includes heating and a motorised pull-wire screen system – enabling plants to stay warm in winter and shaded from excess sunlight in summer.
The internal systems of the facility have also been connected to Palmbrokers’ biomass facility, meaning heat produced throughout the colder months is produced sustainably from organic waste.
“This project highlights the versatility of modern greenhouses, demonstrating that in addition to commercial production, greenhouses can be used for creative applications too. With their Vermako facility now complete, we can’t wait to see the movie scenes brought to life by their greenhouse-grown plants!” add David.
“The extra space that the new palm house has provided is invaluable for us to maintain the health and wellbeing of our existing tropical plants, and to be able to scale our collection as we expand stock. We choose the most suitable plants for each client brief, often at short notice to meet the demands of the industries in which we operate, so having our vast range ready for its close up is instrumental to our success” says Sam Campbell, Co-owner and Director of Palmbrokers.
Established 1983, Bridge Greenhouses has been at the forefront of the UK horticulture for almost four decades, establishing commercial greenhouses throughout Britain for edible crops, medicinal plants, plant nurseries and more.
Founded in 1989, Vermako design custom-made poly house greenhouses and industrial canopies that are built to reduce environmental footprints, through using sustainable and durable materials.
As a leading supplier of innovative greenhouse structures, Bridge Greenhouses supply Vermako structures in the UK.
“Consideration for our environmental impact is woven into our DNA and was a significant determining factor in our choice of structure and supplier. The combination of a double skin structure, motorised screens, biomass heating and rainwater capture helps us work alongside nature as a whole, not just our small part of it” concludes Sam.
