Palmbrokers – Vermako polyhouse fit for scene-setting plants
Project by Bridge Greenhouses
A Vermako polyhouse was delivered and installed for Palmbrokers, a supplier of greenery and props for film, television and events.
Meeting all project requirements, Bridge Greenhouses were the ideal partner – delivering a state-of-the-art facility that supports Palmbrokers’ cultivation and housing of visually striking plants with a strong commitment to sustainability
The Challenge
Palmbrokers has an extensive range of stock including exotic plant species, many of which originate from tropical and sub-tropical climates. Replicating these environments in the UK required a carefully controlled structure capable of maintaining consistent temperature, humidity and light.
However, many of these specimens are significantly larger than crops typically grown in a conventional commercial greenhouse. Their existing facility had become restrictive in height, limiting their ability to house and grow taller plants.
This meant a more specialised greenhouse was needed for their cultivation team – one that could accommodate to both environmental and substantial vertical growth.
The solution
To support their expanding collection, Palmbrokers approached Bridge Greenhouses for a bespoke structure tailored to their environmental and size requirements.
Utilising a high-specification Vermako polyhouse system, the Bridge team designed and delivered a structure engineered to reach an impressive 8.8 metres in post height – while still having the capability to replicate the tropical climate that the plants need.
The result
The result provided the vertical space and controlled environment Palmbrokers needed to grow and house their tallest, most dramatic plants year‑round for major productions.
As a Vermako polyhouse, Palmbrokers is also benefitting from better energy saving (up to 30%), improved temperature regulation from the double skin film and enhanced ventilation from roof-opening vents – a key advantage over standard polytunnel structures.
